Exciting Opportunity for Our Community of Artists and Cultural Innovators,

The Ruth Williams Opera House is launching the next round of our Black Arts Grant in partnership with the Office of Economic and Workforce Development (OEWD) and the San Francisco Human Rights Commission’s (HRC) Dream Keeper Initiative. This grant is meant to support African American cultural preservation events in San Francisco, particularly within the Bayview Hunters Point and Potrero Hill neighborhoods by providing microgrants of up to $10,000 to local artists to activate and uplift the 94124 and 94107 neighborhoods!

Why You Should Apply:

• Support for Your Event: This grant offers assistance to ensure the success of events and projects that celebrate African American culture and its vital role in the community. You can use this grant to pay for things like renting a place for your event, paying staff, buying materials, getting permits, and other expenses that help you successfully carry out your project.
• Community Engagement: This is a great way for local creatives to curate events and programming that strengthen the community, showcase local art, and encourage the cultural preservation of our neighborhoods.
• Great Opportunity: This is a great chance to get plugged into the community, highlight your work on a larger scale, and give your creativity a platform to shine!

Grant Details:

• Deadline: The deadline to submit your application is Sunday, April 21, 2024, at 11:59 PM PST
• We’ve attached a ‘Sample Budget’ and ‘Checklist’ to help you make sure you have everything you need to complete your application
• Focus: The focus of these events is to promote African American cultural preservation through art in venues or parks that encompass the 94124 and 94107 neighborhoods. Please note: The Opera House has very limited availability for the remainder of the year for hosting an event
